After hearing her share updates about Mystic with our Team, we had the opportunity to learn more about his journey and everything it took to help him feel safe, healthy, and truly at home.

Mystics Story

Some Pets find their families in the most unexpected ways. For Mystic, it started in a backyard…

Mystic first appeared in April 2025, quietly visiting under the cover of night. For weeks, he stayed just out of reach, stopping by for food and disappearing before anyone could get close.

Kim shared, “I would only see him at night, mostly on our cameras. I kept dry food outside, he would eat and leave.”

When his photo was shared with a local neighborhood group, the truth came out, he had been abandoned.

Determined to help, his Pet Parents began building trust the only way they could, slowly, and from a distance. By June, they were finally able to safely bring him into their outdoor catio.

“At that time, he was very spicy. With a screen door for safe introductions and secured windows for fresh air, his world slowly started to expand. Even then, he kept his distance, and his future family still didn’t know something as simple as whether Mystic was a boy or a girl.

“It wasn’t an easy move. With the help of sedation, the Team was able to safely examine him and share some big updates: Mystic was a healthy, four-year-old boy… who still needed to be neutered.

In January 2026, Mystic returned for his procedure, along with dental care that revealed something unique, he had two full sets of canine teeth. During his treatment, two canines and two damaged molars were removed to help him feel his best.

“He needed shots, full blood work, a neuter, and significant dental work.”

After surgery, Mystic recovered at our Tigard hospital, where one special connection made all the difference.

“Kayla took exceptional care of him.”

Kayla, a member of our Team, saw something others hadn’t yet, that Mystic wasn’t feral, just scared.

“She told me she didn’t think he was feral, just scared.” Kim said.

She was right.

With time, care, and a lot of love, Mystic transformed into the sweetest kind of companion, a true “velcro baby” who now seeks out affection and enjoys being close to his people and fellow Pets.

“We now have a very loving velcro baby.
